About the Author: Nigel Preston

Nigel Preston is a self-confessed 'HPV Tragic'. After 'catching the bug' from his older brother, he helped launch the Energy Breakthrough program at Eaglehawk SC with his dad and some mates way back in 1998. Having participated in the EB for four years he finished his VCE in 2001 and volunteering to help with the event management straight away. He's been helping out ever since. Nigel has also been a part of teams that have taken line honours at the EB in 2000 & 2001 (Bendigo Senior SC); the Australian International Pedal Prix 2003, 2004 & 2009 (Bendigo Youth Racing); and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in 2019.

Welcome to a high energy 2026: Updates, class changes + webinars galore

Welcome to 2026: a year that promises to be a year of high energy, all powered by Honda! Learning as we go and continuous improvement is the name of the game both for our EB schools and us as the Energy Breakthrough team. Here’s full update of the changes we’ve made for EB2026: Modest Changes to the HPV / EEV Vehicle Specifications, More riders in some HPV / EEV teams, Additional school marshals for HPV / EEV to improve track safety, Test N Tune Days, Webinars with Sustainability Victoria’s Resource Smart Schools & Game Day Nutrition, Check out the Vic HPV Series, Pushcarts set for a renewed ‘push’ with new Coordinator; and Robotics will continue to flourish as part of the Sphero Global Challenge, as more satellite events planned!
