HPV TRYATHLON
Innovate, adapt and achieve a breakthrough.
The HPV TRYathlon program at the Energy Breakthrough inspires students to design, build and race in a pedal-powered test across three challenges.
What is the program?
Entrants design, build and compete with a vehicle powered solely by human power.
Our event specifications direct the construction of the vehicle – including safety, dimensions, steering regulations, lighting and warning device requirements. Entrants use the same design requirements as for Human Powered Vehicles (HPVs).
Quick pit stops, fast acceleration and smooth handling are the keys to success in the Time Trial and Obstacle Rally, whilst the 8-Hour Endurance Trial is a chance to stretch the riders’ legs.
This is the most widely assessed category at the Energy Breakthrough.
For more than 30 years, schools and education centres across Victoria and Australia have converged annually to compete in the TRYathlon category and celebrate the achievements in this program.
Design, build, present and test your pedal-powered vehicle.
The TRYathlon category at the Energy Breakthrough sees teams compete across five areas of assessment:
- Design & Construction
- Display & Presentation
- Time Trial
- Obstacle Rally
- 8-hour Endurance Trial
All entrants take on the elements and other competitors on the street circuit at Maryborough in November.
