‘Design, Display and Trial’ – Free Preparation Workshop – 27th October

The RACV EB have joined forces with La Trobe University and Cyient to hold a special ‘Design, Display and Trial’ preparation workshop ahead of the 2017 RACV Energy Breakthrough. This free workshop is for students, teachers and team managers and will be held on the morning of Friday October 27 2017 at the La Trobe University campus in Bendigo.

Workshop Overview:

The workshop will be focused on the three key areas of the RACV Energy Breakthrough: Display & Presentation, Design & Construction and the Trials. Each component supports learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM). The session will be most appropriate for upper Primary students through to Year 10, but Year 11 and 12s are also welcome.

9:30 am – 10:00 am	Panel Discussion Display & Presentation – Simon O’Mallon, La Trobe University What are some of the key themes, observations and life long skills that can be developed from preparing for Display & Presentation? Design & Construction – Ravi Murty, Head of Sales, Asia Pacific, Rail at Cyient Australia What are the key processes and themes of Design and Construction to focus on? How can careers in engineering make real changes to the world around us? Trial – Andy Buchanan, 2017 Australian 1500m and Cross Country Champion What are some of the keys to preparing for elite competition? What lessons can be taken from national level racing that can now be shared with students?

About the Author: Nigel Preston

Nigel Preston is a self-confessed 'HPV Tragic'. After 'catching the bug' from his older brother, he helped launch the Energy Breakthrough program at Eaglehawk SC with his dad and some mates way back in 1998. Having participated in the EB for four years he finished his VCE in 2001 and volunteering to help with the event management straight away. He's been helping out ever since. Nigel has also been a part of teams that have taken line honours at the EB in 2000 & 2001 (Bendigo Senior SC); the Australian International Pedal Prix 2003, 2004 & 2009 (Bendigo Youth Racing); and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in 2019.

I would love to attend with 4 or so of my students, I have only just received approval to go ahead with it.and now it says that registration is closed. .Is there any way we could still attend..we are a special needs school.
