Would you like to have a hands-on lesson from one of the best human powered vehicle builders in Australia?

Of course you do! Well, lucky for you the team at Bendigo Senior Secondary College are offering a Beginners Building Workshop to share some simple building techniques and ideas to get you started. The session will be aimed at beginner HPV builders who may have never built a vehicle before, or may have built one or two basic HPVs in the past.

The overarching aim is to encourage more students and teachers to construct their own vehicles for the RACV Energy Breakthrough.
”I want to make it as hands on as possible and actually get staff and students doing some of the building: just simple stuff like tube cutting and bending, fibre glassing and maybe a bit of machining.”
~ BSSC Team Manager, Daryl King.
60490_10151330242463627_391645377_nThis four hour practical session will cover:

 • Steel frame building
 • Steering construction
 • Driveline (creating some rollers)
 • Introduction to composites (constructing a fibre glass seat)

To maximise the hands-on nature of this workshop, attendance will be capped at 20 people, with a limit of three people per school or organisation.

For best results, we request that students are between Year 9 and Year 12 and keen to participate.

All participants will also receive a copy and explanation of BSSC’s ‘DIY” plans from their 2012 trial winning entry.
