Calling all explorers! Gather your team, pack your backpack, and join the 6th season of the ultimate STEM Competition: “Sphero Global Challenge: Outdoor Adventures” at the Energy Breakthrough. This year, participants will embark on a national park-themed coding and robotics journey to spark curiosity, teamwork, and creativity through hands-on learning under the theme on “Outdoor Adventures”.
The Challenges for this year look super exciting and with this early notification teams will have plenty of time to prepare.

ENTRY INFORMATION FOR 2025
Enter to compete live as part of our in-person challenge at the 2025 Energy Breakthrough, Maryborough in Australia. We are proud to host the Regional Championship once again for 2025. There’s no other Australian event that is part of the Sphero Global Challenge: the ultimate Robotics competition where winners will progress through to the World Championships!
Entry into the Energy Breakthrough in-person competion involves two steps:
- Step 1: Firstly, registering with EB via the MyEB portal (https://my.eb.org.au/). Schools will receive an invoice for $50 per team from Energy Breakthrough via Central Goldfields Shire Council. In 2024, teams were supported to enter the Global Challenge but this year teams will have to register themselves online.
- Step 2: Cost per team will be $100 US payable to the Sphero Global Challenge by registering at https://sphero.com/pages/global-challenge
Resources for 2025
Many Robotics teams will still have access to Blueprint construction kits from last year. As the Blue print kits are difficult to obtain in Australia we will allow alternatives if necessary. Please contact us if this is an issue for you
The age groups are designed for US schools and the US school year. We like to keep it aligned with our schools by allowing our Primary students to compete in the Upper Elementary category and Secondary Schools to complete in the “Middle School” category.
