2024 and 2025 Energy Breakthrough Event Dates and Entry Fees announced

Who looks ahead to 2024 and 2025 before 2023 has come to a close? We do! (and we know that schools definitely are, too).

Here’s the future dates and proposed entry fees for the Energy Breakthrough for 2024 and 2025. As always, these dates and fees may change due to factors outside of our control, but they are correct as at 28 November 2023.

2024 Energy Breakthrough dates

Entries would open in March 2024.

Proposed event dates: Wednesday 20^th November – Sunday 24^th November 2024

Melb Cup Tuesday 5^th November. VCE Exam period concludes Wed 20 Nov.

2024 Energy Breakthrough entry fees

Human Powered Vehicles (Primary): $770.00 per entry.
Human Powered Vehicles (Secondary): $770.00 per entry.
Human Powered Vehicles (Tryathlon): $770.00 per entry.
Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEVs): $700.00 per entry.
Pushcarts: $400.00 per entry.
Junkyard Challenge: $80.00 per entry.
Robotics: $80.00 per entry.

All prices include GST.

The entry fee for our Human Powered Vehicle (HPV) categories (Primary, Secondary and TRYathlon) in 2024 will be the equivalent of $96.25 per student for a team of eight.

The entry fee for our Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV) category is not forecast to increase for 2024 and 2025. This is designed to encourage participation in this category and to recognise that Electric Vehicles and Pedal-Electric Hybrid Vehicles are more expensive to build and operate.

The entry fee for the Junkyard Challenge and Robotics categories in 2024 and 2025 will be the equivalent of $20 per student for a team of four.

2025 Energy Breakthrough proposed dates

Entries would open in March 2025.

Proposed event dates: Wednesday 19^h November – Sunday 23^rd November 2025

The entry fee for our Pushcart category in 2025 will be the equivalent of $55.00 per student for a team of eight or $44.00 for a team of ten.

Nigel Preston is a self-confessed 'HPV Tragic'. After 'catching the bug' from his older brother, he helped launch the Energy Breakthrough program at Eaglehawk SC with his dad and some mates way back in 1998. Having participated in the EB for four years he finished his VCE in 2001 and volunteering to help with the event management straight away. He's been helping out ever since. Nigel has also been a part of teams that have taken line honours at the EB in 2000 & 2001 (Bendigo Senior SC); the Australian International Pedal Prix 2003, 2004 & 2009 (Bendigo Youth Racing); and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in 2019.
