PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The BIG question we’ll be looking for clever answers to is:

Can aerobic and vehicle analytics improve EB performance or safety, and how?

The program will differ slightly between each location, but has been carefully curated to support student learning in the areas of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM).

BENDIGO – BOOKED OUT!

In Bendigo, there will be a focus on exercise science (including the impact of biometrics, Vo2 capabilities and fatigue on performance and safety.
This session will also feature the release of some new curriculum resources for schools to help them prepare for their Design & Construction and Display & Presentation components for 2019 and 2020.

Bendigo South East Secondary College will have a huamn powered vehicle at the event to help demonstrate in real time ways that a riders’ performance can be measured and tracked.

BUNDOORA

In Bundoora, the focus will switch to exploring and understanding aerodynamics and friction, including a guided explore of the FARLABS (Freely Accessible Remote Laboratories) wind tunnel project. (Read more about FARLABS here >)

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT

  • IN-PERSON ATTENDEES: Students will be engaged by La Trobe University teaching staff in a series of quick discussions and activities to help them think creatively about what they have seen and heard.
  • LIVESTREAM: For both sessions, teachers who are joining via Livestream (using ZOOM) will have a worksheet provided to them ahead of time for them to guide their own students through the activities at their own schools.

The session will be most appropriate for upper Primary students through to Year 10, although Year 11 and 12s are also welcome.
