The countdown is on to National Ride2School Day – Friday 22 March – where Energy Breakthrough schools and students can join more than 350,000 students across the nation who will ride, walk, scoot and skate to school.
National Ride2School Day is an initiative of Bicycle Network and is Australia’s biggest celebration of active travel and one of the best days on the school calendar.
It is a day full of fun and colour, where student, teachers and parents discover the joy of riding and hopefully kick-start healthy habits for the future. This year’s theme is the 1970s because 40 years ago eight out of ten students rode or walked to school – BUT today that number has dropped to just two out of ten.
Ride2School supports our Energy Breakthrough Aim #2: “To encourage young people to explore solutions to environmental and transport issues.”
We encourage all of our Energy Breakthrough schools to register to receive resources and support via the Bicycle Network website.
We also encourage Energy Breakthrough students to Ride2School themselves on Friday 22 March and to lead as an example for the rest of their school.
Remember that if you DO Ride2School on Friday 22 March post a photo to your social media account and tag us on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/EBmaryborough), Twitter (https://twitter.com/EBmaryborough) and / or Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/EBmaryborough/).
