Test ride an electric bike (or eBike as they are more commonly referred) for free at this years RACV Energy Breakthrough Energy Expo – along with 18 other expo exhibitors!

eBikes are bicycles with an electric motor that provide power assistance when pedalling. eBikes can be purchased from retailers or an ordinary bicycle may be converted using kits available online or from retail outlets.

RACV will be running eBike test rides departing every half hour from the Energy Expo area. Experienced staff from eBike retailer Dolomiti will conduct the 20 minute tours around Maryborough.
All people over the age of 18 who have valid identification will be able to participate, however be sure to sign up early on the day or via email publicpolicyadmin@racv.com.au as there are only four places per tour.

Dolomite logo (1)The advantages of eBikes are many – they can replace car trips, extend the distance that can be ridden, help people overcome terrain such as hills, improve physical fitness and assist people recovering from injuries. Based on all those benefits it is no surprise that in China there are 210 million electric bikes and the uptake of eBikes in Italy and Germany now outstrips regular bicycles.

More locally, the popularity of eBikes is increasing in Australia. In May 2012 the Australian government adopted the European design rule allowing electric bikes to be powered by 250W motors when pedalling and for eBikes with this level of power speeds limits were increased to 25km/hr before the motor cuts out.

Be sure to try an eBike at RACV Energy Breakthrough and test ride the advantages for yourself.

*Conditions apply. Offer only available to people over the age of 18 who have a valid form of identification. Helmets and hair nets will be supplied on the day.
