About Lachlan Steed

Lachlan Steed is the Communications Officer at Central Goldfields Shire Council where his responsibilities include writing and distributing media releases and updating social media and Council’s website.   Previous to his position at Council, Lachlan was a journalist at The Maryborough District Advertiser for seven years and reported on a range of issues including education, health, events, politics, court, crime, sport, community interest, and of course, the Energy Breakthrough. Lachlan is studying an online Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) at Deakin University and participated in the Energy Breakthrough twice in grades five and six through the former 404 Primary School where he did Innovations in Technology.

Weeroona College Bendigo on the rebound

At Weeroona College Bendigo, the Energy Breakthrough is much more than an innovative four-day event, it is a chance to reinforce already strong community ties. The school's program - which began way back in 1999 - had gone through something of a 'dip' in recent years, but it's now bouncing back thanks to a fresh approach which looks beyond the 'Breakthrough.

EB Veteran Don Elliott talks about the Holmesglen approach, Southern Alliance and THAT Bugatti

Believed to be one of the longest-serving team managers at the Energy Breakthrough, Don Elliot has been the man behind Holmesglen Institute of TAFE's involvement since 1992. has been involved in the big event since 1992 - save for a few ‘off years’ here and there. We caught up with him to talk about some of his favourite teams including Southern Alliance (1997) and his Bugatti replica.
