TRYathlon Obstacle Training Sesh – Call for interest

Nigel PrestonNigel Preston is a self-confessed 'HPV Tragic'. After 'catching the bug' from his older brother, he helped launch the Energy Breakthrough program at Eaglehawk SC with his dad and some mates way back in 1998. Having participated in the EB for four years he finished his VCE in 2001 and volunteering to help with the event management straight away. He's been helping out ever since. Nigel has also been a part of teams that have taken line honours at the EB in 2000 & 2001 (Bendigo Senior SC); the Australian International Pedal Prix 2003, 2004 & 2009 (Bendigo Youth Racing); and the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix in 2019.

Generally Newsworthy

Calling all TRYathlon teams: This is YOUR chance to practice the skills needed to excel in the Obstacle Rally! The practice session is FREE, but schools MUST complete an online registration form to ensure a safe day for all.

What / Where / When?

When: To be confirmed, depending on level of interest. (A Sunday prior to the event, of course.)
What: 1 x rumble strip, 1 or 2 x see-saw/s and 1 x ramp will be set-up.
Where: On a test venue in Melbourne (Exact venue details will be communicated to schools who sign-up.)

Whilst it won’t be a full ‘race day’ set-up, it should provide ample opportunity for students to practice their manoeuvrability and vehicle handling skills. Please note this practice session is open for TRYathlon teams only.

Expressions of Interest will close at 10 am on Monday 21 October 2019.

A word on safety:

The training session will be on a dead-end street in an unused industrial street with road signs and cones to close off the road. However, schools will be responsible for their vehicles and riders. Schools and students will be participating in this practice session at their own risk and the Energy Breakthrough and its volunteers will not be held liable for any incidents or injuries.
